SUNDAY WORSHIP

One thing I love about our church is the music! We sing a lot of hymns, many of them that I haven't heard in years. And most of them are songs that remind me of my childhood. Yesterday was no exception. Three songs/hymns that were a part of the service are ones I haven't heard in a long time:

Praise Him, Praise Him by Fanny Crosby. Listen.
My Redeemer by Philip Bliss. Listen.
He is Lord, a chorus that especially reminds me of summer camp. Listen.

We also sang Narrow Little Road which is a great song you may not be familiar with. I couldn't find a recording of it anywhere online, so the words will have to do.

Narrow Little Road by Mo Leverett

I believe in the love of God
It is an orphan's wildest dream
It is a narrow little road
It is an ever-widening desert stream

My Savior, I
I will leave this road
For the narrow

It is portrayed in the bread and wine
Let it fortify my bones
It is more than just a sign
It is the fountain from that desert stone

My Savior, I
I will leave this road
For the narrow

It is the path where the humble go
It is the narrow not the broad
It is the pathway down the hill
To the graveyard of the living God

My Savior, I
I will leave this road
For the narrow

The love of God is the hymn of hope
Let the needy join the throng
Let the widow hear and cope
Let the crippled rise to sing this song

My Savior, I
I will leave this road
For the narrow

HOW MANY OF ME?

You may have already seen this but it's very interesting to me.
  • There are 51,648 people in the U.S. with the first name Ginger. (Statistically the 774th most popular first name.)
  • There are 1,001,066 people in the U.S. with the first name Matthew. (Statistically the 40th most popular first name.)
  • There are 486 people in the U.S. with the last name Eppinette. (Statistically the 53211th most popular last name.)

After I put our names in, I tried to find out the most popular names. I guessed correctly on the last name.
  • There are 3,056,364 people in the U.S. with the last name Smith. (Statistically the 1st most popular last name.)
But it took me a while to guess the most popular first name for a male. (I thought it would be John.)
  • There are 5,055,457 people in the U.S. with the first name James. (Statistically the 1st most popular first name.)
And I STILL can't figure out the most popular name for a female. I've tried them all. Maybe you can help!

DAILEY BAILEY #8

Posting has been sporadic because we've been out of town. Our lovely friend, Anya, has been house/dog-sitting for us. She and Bailey are great buddies. Below is an email that Anya sent while we were gone. We were laughing so hard that we were crying. You may not find it as funny as we did, but if you knew Bailey (and Anya) you would!

Anyway… after we came back in from our morning walk, she went bonkers. She played a game while I was in the bathroom getting ready—she would start in the living room and run as fast as she could to the front door, sliding across the wooden floor the last ten feet and crashing into the door. She did this about nine, ten times. When I went out to check on her and see if she was possessed by the devil, she stopped and pretended nothing was happening (“move along, folks--nothing to see here”).

I went back to brushing my teeth, and about three minutes later I hear her winding up again. Only this time, she navigates two turns, the hallway cabinet, and my feet and slides into the bathroom—running headfirst into the tub.

And then she just lies there on the tile, looking up at me as if everything is normal and she didn’t just come careening into the bathroom like a bat out of hell.

Keep in mind, this is AFTER her morning walk.
