Well...it's time.
Today I head back to the land of asbestos-filled floor tiles, lingering smells of vomit mixed with pencil shavings, mystery meat lunches, non-air conditioned rooms, and gymnasiums that smell like 50 years of rancid sneakers.
And it won't be long until 60 (yes, 60!!) buses arrive and the halls are filled with crying first graders who can't tell you their name, crying parents who refuse to leave, smirking third graders who think they own they campus (they're 3rd graders for goodness sakes!), and smiling teachers who spent two month's salary to make their classroom enticing and exciting for all the little ones who will become like family before the year is over. Where, oh, where did the summer go?
(And for those of you who are muttering under your breath that I at least got 2 months off. Shame on you...remember I only get paid for the days I work, not for the summer!)
