This is just random stuff from life that most of the time includes monkey photos or monkey stuff. Why PoMonkey? I like monkeys! And some friends were on vacation and sent us a postcard. They said that they had found the perfect place for us to live...Pomonkey! I agreed. Indeed, it would be fun to live in a place called Pomonkey. And a blog name was born.

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Today marks the one year anniversary of our fur-child coming to live with us from Chicago's Anti-Cruelty Society. You may recall this introduction to her. Since then we've figured out that she's a foxhound and once traveled with the Latvian Circus. And since there were no records for our Bailey, we've decided to make today her birthday too! (No, she did not get a cake...just a few extra dog bones.)
This is a picture from the first day that we met her...she took to Mr. PoMonkey immediately. We sure have enjoyed having a pup around again.

TALULA DOES THE HULA FROM HAWAII
That's what a mother in New Zealand named her daughter.
No. I'm not joking.
Talula Does the Hula from Hawaii is her given name. She apparently hated it so much that she went by "K" until she was made a ward of the court so she could change it.
As a teacher, I had some oddly-named students throughout the years, but nothing like these. Some other unusual names listed:

YOU DECIDE
Update to the last post: 30 total people (in one day) asked if I was Sarah Palin! This is a photo from that day.
You decide.
(I don't see it! Similar, maybe.
But mistaken identity? Nah!)

NAUGHTY MONKEY
**I want to go on the record that I’ve had this post in my drafts for several weeks (ht: Abbie)...BEFORE today’s Wall Street Journal article on Sarah Palin’s fashion.I can’t think of a better brand of shoes to wear than NAUGHTY MONKEY! You can order them at Like.com which I L-O-V-E because you can search for shoes by style, color, material and price. (I’m pretty sure they are trying to reach a demographic younger than Sarah Palin, but I’m sure they’ll take any publicity they get.)
Speaking of Palin, I’ve received numerous questions this morning (I’m at a conference in DC):
“Are you Sarah Palin?”
“Has anyone ever told you that you look like Sarah Palin?”
And then numerous stares!
People, I’ve been doing my hair like this for YEARS!!! I have photos to prove it. And I got these glasses WAY before Palin was announced.
However, it definitely doesn’t offend me. I’ve always thought Palin was beautiful, so the comparison is fine with me! But I’m not intentionally trying to copy her. I think she may be copying ME!
**Update, 3:40pm: so far today I've had 26 people ask if I'm Sarah Palin!!**
