HEADIN' OUT

I'm headin' out to our nation's capital again, and won't see you until the end of the week sometime. I'm not sure if I'll get to visit another cool monument, but I'll be sure to share it with you like last time if I do.

I don't have this suitcase to take with me, but it would be fun if I did. Although, I'm sure that everyone would be so jealous of it that it might be stolen!

I don't really have anything to say on this Thursday-Wish-It-Were-Friday, and you can't really have an empty blog post. Can you?

Anyway, I was just chatting with my dear sister-in-law and this photo was her Profile Picture. It made me laugh...a lot! Maybe it will make you laugh also.

I'm just wondering, how do you get a chimp to sit still long enough to paint her lips?

NIFTY TRICK

I've got a new trick for those of you who are blessed to have a dish washer (an electric one, not your spouse!) I saw this tip in my Real Simple magazine (absolutely the best magazine, in my opinion). To clean the inside of your dishwasher from food gunk and spills, purchase one small packet of lemonade flavored Kool-Aid. Pour it where you normally put soap, and then let it run through a complete cycle - empty, of course. I tried it and it really works!!
My dishwasher was spotless!

But it does make me wonder what it does to your stomach.

SAD NEWS

Well, the extreme weather here in Chicago has claimed it's first Eppinette victim. Jelly, our girl betta, died yesterday after just not being able to tolerate the cold anymore. Bettas are natives of places like Thailand where it is hot and humid (my preference, as well) and as much as we tried to keep our apartment warm and humid, one can only do so much when the wind chill outside is minus 29!! She had been sick for a couple days, and I did the best to nurse her back to health as I had a couple of months ago.

So this post is in memory of Jelly, even though I promised here after I received them for Mother's Day last year that I would only post about our fish once. Peanut Butter, our boy betta, is very sad, and I'm hoping he can stay healthy and last the winter. And while I know she was "just a fish", I'm very sad as well.
